Dentistry and Dental Health

Dentisry is the profession or science that focuses on the prevention and treatment of dental diseases and malformations of the teeth, gums, and oral cavity. It deals with the removal, correction, and replacement of decayed, damaged, or lost parts of the teeth including operations such as the filling and crowning of teeth, the straightening of teeth, and the construction of artificial dentures. Dental Health also known as Oral Health, covers the overall health conditions of the teeth, gums, pulp and dental tissue. It is concerned with promoting health of an entire population and focuses on an action at a community level, rather than at an individual clinical approach.
